Wisdom should shape our speech. Wise speech entails knowledge (verses 2,8, 14), but mere knowledge is only the beginning. A truly wise person employs wisdom to bring healing (verse 3), to calm dissension (verse 18), and joy (verse 23).
Spend some time in prayer asking the Lord to help you to honestly evaluate your speech. Is your speech true? Is it wise? Remember that the Bible depicts the Trinity speaking the world into existence (Genesis 1) and Jesus as the Word made flesh (John 1:1-14). God created through His word and He redeems through His word.
