Hebrews 13:6
So we can confidently say,
The LORD is my helper;
I will not fear;
what can man do to me? #Bible http://mydailybible.org/dv/esv/2014-11-07.htm

The opening verses of 1 Timothy 2 are an invitation to pray for those in positions of authority. This verse grounds that universal invitation in the fact that there is only one true GOD. As a result of GOD’s absolute sovereignty, all authorities ultimately answer to Him, and therefore Christians are called not only to pray for Christian rulers, but all those who GOD has placed in positions of authority.

Spend some time in prayer, praising GOD for his awesome power. Thank Him that He is not only a powerful King, but also a merciful redeemer. Consider that we can trust Him because of his Kingly authority, and that we can know and love him because of his priestly sacrifice on our behalf. Surely this is a GOD worthy of our praise!
